Implementation: Orthographic Patterns (1 CEU Clock Hour)
This self-paced, 1-hour lesson provides practical strategies for teaching spelling through the study of orthographic patterns and phoneme–grapheme connections. Participants will explore how to choose appropriate spelling patterns, apply suffix ending rules, and use phoneme–grapheme mapping as a classroom to enhance students’ decoding and encoding skills. This lesson also highlights effective techniques for teaching high-frequency and irregular words explicitly to help educators strengthen both spelling instruction and word reading fluency.
