Implementation: Integrating Morphology and Etymology to Support Spelling (1 CEU Clock Hour)
This self-paced, 1-hour lesson provides practical strategies for teaching spelling through the study of morphology and word origins. Participants will examine the Anglo-Saxon, Latin, and Greek layers of English and understand the impact word origin has on English spelling. Participants will also learn how instructional strategies such as word sums and word matrices can support students’ morphological awareness and strengthen vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension.
