Implementation: Alphabet Instruction (1 CEU Clock Hour)
This self-paced, 1-hour lesson focuses on the role of alphabet knowledge and the alphabetic principle in early literacy instruction. Participants will explore how children learn letter names, forms, and sounds, and how this knowledge supports decoding and spelling. The lesson provides evidence-based strategies and materials for teaching letter–sound correspondences from accuracy to automaticity. Attention is also given to inclusive approaches that ensure all learners, including those at-risk for reading difficulties, develop the foundational skills needed for reading success.
